The scent of the sea, fish, wine, lemons, and olives. The intoxicating freshness of mountain peaks, the taste of prosciutto, kačamak, and rakija. Pure water. A safe environment. Smiling hosts. Words that carry weight. A tradition that continues. People whose beauty is not easily forgotten. All of this is Montenegro.
Living in such a country is a privilege. The sun warms us all year round, waves and mountain winds cool us in the summer, and snow brings joy in the winter. Lakes, rivers, canyons, hidden trails, caves, and coves constantly invite adventure.
The world is full of attractions, but rarely anywhere, like on the blue and green carpet of Montenegro, is there such a diversity of nature’s gifts.
I recently met a true “hunter of wonders” that I write about. His name is Miloš Đikanović. He comes from Cetinje, from the heart of the old royal capital of Montenegro. We were brought together by a public exhibition of his photographs in Podgorica, in front of which both I and almost every passerby through Njegošev park stood in awe of the captured scenes.
Miloš Đikanović
“Everything started spontaneously, in July last year, when I created an account on the social network Instagram and began sharing videos and photos from nature. I didn’t have any big plan, just the desire to share what I love,” Miloš told "Argument".
“People quickly recognized it. By sharing my posts, commenting on the photos, and giving me support, they helped my love for Montenegro reach a wider audience and become a voice that inspires others to explore the nature and beauty of our country.”
Ćehotina Meanders
Đikanović graduated from the Faculty of Law but is not currently working in his field. Nature has been his passion since childhood.
“Nature has taught me to slow down, to be present in the moment, and to connect with it. It is my inspiration and strength. Going out into untouched parts of Montenegro reminds me how important it is to maintain a balance between work and personal life,” Miloš explains.
Every free moment is an opportunity to discover a new landscape and enjoy it. Sometimes it is a starry night, and other times it is dawn and the sunrise.

“I realized that the most important moments are those when we are not in a hurry, and in nature time passes more slowly. It is a treasure and a remedy of immeasurable value for our body and mind. A reminder of how little is needed for a person to feel fulfilled. Montenegro is the pearl of the Balkans, and I believe that everyone can find their own corner in it, depending on what they love,” Đikanović says.
A passionate admirer of wild beauty, he strives to capture through his lens the different faces of the same landscapes, following their changes across seasons and varying weather conditions.
Durmitor
“I would highlight Durmitor National Park for its untouched nature, dense forests, lakes, and impressive mountain peaks (over 40 above 2,000 meters above sea level). Then the Prokletije mountains, especially the view from the Volušnica peak toward the magnificent Karanfili—perhaps one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the Balkans. Mount Lukavica and its beautiful Manito Lake. There you will find crystal-clear spring water and unmatched hospitality. Of course, there is also Lovćen, my special love,” Đikanović emphasizes.
At first, people watched Miloš with a sense of curiosity because of his frequent time spent in nature. Now, not only do they understand him, but they also seek his company and want to experience the environment we live in. For him and his followers from all parts of Montenegro, as well as the world, the favorite way to spend time in nature is camping.

Happiness is all around us, but we often fail to recognize it.
“I would tell readers that in today’s fast-paced world, burdened with obligations and pressures, everyone should find their own path and what makes them happy. For me, happiness is not in titles, wealth, or status symbols, but in simple and sincere moments that bring us back to ourselves. Peace and fulfillment are found in the simplest things,” Đikanović concluded.

We hope that the photographs of Montenegro by Miloš Đikanović, which speak about it in the language of the soul, will, after the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City, also be recognized by the administrations of other cities, thus becoming part of the noble mission of promoting love for our most beautiful homeland.
